Soon the sun.
For now the frost.
For the Son
who bore the cost.

The world waits cold
for Him to shine,
return to claim,
“This bride is mine!”

As the sun begins to rise on 2018 the air is crispy cold, there is a light snow on the ground and white frost covers the branches of all the trees, again. This year begins as thousands of years have before. The consistency of repeated history can lull us into assuming that it will always be so. The repeating progression of nature, and man; the good and, sadly, the evil rolls on. But the word of God tells us it will not always be so. God will keep His promise and come for us, in fact, He says, “soon.”

The world hears, “soon,” and is not impressed. And even we, sometimes feel, when Lord.

This is nothing new, God, through St. Peter answered us all long ago –

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 ESV)

He is coming! We don’t know when, but we do know for whom, for us, His bride!

So, let’s lean into 2018, into the rising sun, and feel the warm promise of the risen Son, who’s coming is closer than ever before.

Walk strong and rejoice, for if we know we are His, we know the end of our story!
